The Toyota Sprinter Carib is a front-engine, all-wheel-drive station wagon that Toyota produced under the Sprinter nameplate from 1982 until 2002. The first generation was based on the second generation Tercel and exported as the Tercel AWD wagon, and the last two generations were based on the Corolla. It was shown first as the RV-5 concept car at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 1981 and introduced for the Japanese market in August 1982, as Toyota's response to growing demand for four-wheel-drive recreational wagons, a segment Subaru had led since the Leone AWD wagon of 1972. The second generation, launched in February 1988, was exported as the Corolla 4WD wagon, the Corolla Tercel 4WD in parts of Europe and the Corolla All-Trac wagon in North America.
