The Toyota Probox is a five-door, two- or four-seater passenger car, the Probox Wagon, and light commercial van, the Probox Van, that Toyota has built in Japan since July 2002. It replaced the Corolla and Sprinter van, which had been losing share to Nissan's more cargo-oriented AD Van, and Toyota set out to beat the AD Van in every parameter. It also served as a slightly shorter version of the Succeed, which is now discontinued. Most Proboxes are vans. The wagon was available only with the larger petrol engine and was dropped in October 2013. The Probox has sold steadily for twenty years, and buyers' preference kept its design largely unchanged since 2002, so the big 2014 redesign was presented as a facelift.
