Subaru SRD-1

Automobiles

The Subaru SRD-1 was a luxury sports wagon concept car that was never put into production, built by Subaru Research and Design, the company's studio in Cypress, California, as its first concept car. Shown at the 1990 Chicago Auto Show, it had a very short nose and a long passenger compartment to give plenty of room for people and cargo, and Subaru presented it as a family wagon concept for the latter half of the 1990s. It was supplied with a 3.3 litre DOHC 24-valve horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine and full-time four-wheel drive with an electronically controlled centre differential. The studio, founded in California in 1986, moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1998.
