1979 Toyota Corolla

Automobiles

The fourth generation was released in Japan in March 1979, the last whose full range was rear wheel drive, and exports followed in August. In Australia the new model arrived in October 1979 with a 1.8 liter engine and a five speed gearbox in standard or DeLuxe trim. This was the first model year of the Toyota Corolla (fourth generation, E70), 1979 to 1982, which took over from the Toyota Corolla (third generation, E30 to E60); the 1980 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Corolla run from 1966 to 2026.
