Opel Olympia (Olympia 1950, 1950 to 1953)

Automobiles

The Opel Olympia 1950 was the post-war Olympia built from 1950 to 1953. In January 1950 it got a modernized body but remained based on the pre-war Olympia, with a column-shifted three-speed manual replacing the floor-mounted four-speed. The bodies offered were a 2-door saloon at 6400 Deutsche Mark, a 2-door cabrio-coach at 6600 and a 2-door kombi estate at 7350, the kombi built by Karosserie Miesen. In February 1951 it gained 15 inch rather than 16 inch wheels and a trunk compartment enclosing the spare tyre. In just over three years of production, until March 1953, about 160,000 cars were made before the Opel Olympia Rekord replaced it with a modern pontoon body.
