Opel 8/16 PS

Automobiles

The Opel 8/16 PS was a upper mid-range car that Adam Opel KG built only in 1910 as the successor of the 10/12 PS. Its four-cylinder side-valve block engine displaced 1,847 cc and produced 16 PS (11.8 kW) at 1,600 rpm. Power passed through a leather cone clutch, a manual 3-speed gearbox and a propeller shaft to the rear axle, and the car reached a top speed of 55 km/h. It was offered as a four-seat double phaeton, a four-door saloon or a landaulet. The double phaeton, the cheapest body, cost 6,500 reichsmarks. It was stopped in the year it appeared, and the 8/20 PS replaced it the next year.
