Opel 6/14 PS

Automobiles

The Opel 6/14 PS was a mid-range car that Adam Opel KG built from 1909 to 1910 as the successor of the 8/9 PS, together with the 6/12 PS. With the 6/12 PS it was one of the first mid-range Opels built to the maker's own design and no longer on the Darracq system. Its four-cylinder side-valve block engine with a 64 mm bore and 120 mm stroke displaced 1,544 cc and produced 14 PS (10.3 kW) at 1,500 rpm. Power passed through a leather cone clutch, a manual 3-speed gearbox and a propeller shaft to the rear axle, and the car reached a top speed of 50 km/h. It was offered as a two-seat phaeton, a four-seat double phaeton or a landaulet. The phaeton, the cheapest body, cost 5,600 reichsmarks. It was built until the end of 1910, and the 6/16 PS replaced it the following year.
