Opel 6/12 PS

Automobiles

The Opel 6/12 PS was a mid-range car that Adam Opel KG built only in 1909 as the successor of the 8/9 PS, together with the 6/14 PS. With the 6/14 PS it was one of the first mid-range Opels built to the maker's own design and no longer on the Darracq system. Its two-cylinder side-valve block engine displaced 1,527 cc and produced 12 PS (8.8 kW) at 1,600 rpm. Power passed through a leather cone clutch, a manual 3-speed gearbox and a propeller shaft to the rear axle, and the car reached a top speed of 55 km/h. It was offered as a two-seat phaeton, a four-seat double phaeton or a landaulet. The phaeton, the cheapest body, cost 4,800 reichsmarks. It was stopped at the end of 1909 without a successor, while its sister model the 6/14 PS was still built in 1910.
