The Opel 35/40 PS was a upper-class car that Adam Opel KG built from 1905 to 1906. It was larger than the 30/32 PS introduced a year before and was sold as the Opel Motorwagen, already built to Opel's own design. At the time it was the largest Opel. Its four-cylinder side-valve T-head engine cast as two blocks displaced 6,872 cc and produced 40 PS (29 kW) at 1,500 rpm. Power passed through a metal cone clutch, a manual 4-speed gearbox and a propeller shaft to the rear axle. It was offered as a two-seat phaeton, a four-seat double phaeton or a four-door saloon. The phaeton, the cheapest body, cost 17,000 reichsmarks. It was built until the end of 1906 and then replaced by the larger 25/40 PS.
