Opel 14/20 PS

Automobiles

The Opel 14/20 PS was a upper-class car that Adam Opel KG built from 1905 to early 1908 as the successor of the 16/18 PS. Its frame differed clearly from its predecessor, being made wholly of pressed steel U sections. Its four-cylinder side-valve block engine displaced 3,402 cc and produced 20 PS (14.7 kW) at 1,400 rpm. Power passed through a leather cone clutch, a manual 4-speed gearbox and a propeller shaft to the rear axle, and the car reached a top speed of 60 km/h. It was offered as a four-seat double phaeton or a four-door saloon. The double phaeton, the cheapest body, cost 11,000 reichsmarks. In early 1908 the output was raised to 22 PS (16.2 kW) and the car was sold as the 14/22 PS until the end of that year, and its successor, the 13/30 PS, appeared three years later.
