Maserati 6CM

Automobiles

The Maserati 6CM is an Italian single-seater racing car that Maserati of Modena made from 1936 to 1940 for the Voiturette class, with twenty-seven built on the 4CM frame and front suspension like that of the V8RI. It was introduced at the 1936 Milan Motor Show and had a successful racing career from 1936 to 1939. The engine was a 1,493 cc inline-six with two overhead valves per cylinder, a Roots-type supercharger and a Weber carburettor, rated at 155 bhp at first and 175 bhp by 1939, driving through a four-speed gearbox. The car is 3.72 metres long, weighs 650 kilograms and carries a 120 litre gasoline tank. Count Felice Trossi won four of the five races he entered in one, including Monaco, and Maserati won at Modena with the 6CM in 1936 and 1938. The modified 8CTF followed, with a supercharged 3 litre engine.
