The Maserati 6C 34 is a single-seat racing car that Maserati built in 1934 and 1935. Its six-cylinder in-line engine of 3,724 cc was 30 CV more powerful and 13 kg lighter than the eight-cylinder in the 8CM, producing 270 CV at 5,300 rpm with a Roots supercharger, and the car reached a top speed of 250 km/h. It first raced only five days after the engine bench tests, at the 1934 Italian Grand Prix, where brake trouble spoiled its run. At the next race, the Masaryk Circuit, Tazio Nuvolari finished third behind the Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union cars but ahead of the Alfa Romeo P3. In 1935 the chassis was stiffened and independent suspension with the Parisi system was tried, and the car ended its career as a semi-official entry of the Scuderia Subalpina, driven by Achille Varzi, Pietro Ghersi and Eugenio Siena, with good placings but no wins.
