Maserati 4CL

Automobiles

The Maserati 4CL is a sports racing car that the Italian maker Maserati developed in 1939 for the Voiturette formula, which limited engines to under 1.5 litres of capacity. It won only rarely until the Second World War broke out, but the little car had a particularly victorious 1947 season thanks to Luigi Villoresi, who had driven the 4CL since 1939. It was improved in 1948 to race in a newly created class, Formula One, and it started several Formula One races between 1948 and 1952.
