Aston Martin Ulster

Automobiles

The Aston Martin Ulster was a sports car built by Aston Martin from 1934 to 1936. It took its name from the successes of Aston Martin cars in the Ulster Tourist Trophy, the famous race run in Northern Ireland. It was a two-seat open car, a spider, with an aluminium body on a ladder frame with cross-members. A cast iron four-cylinder block of 1,495 cc mounted at the front produced 85 horsepower, driving the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox. The front axle was rigid and the rear used a rigid axle on longitudinal semi-elliptic leaf springs, with Hartford lever dampers and mechanically operated drum brakes. The car reached 164 km/h and covered 0 to 100 km/h in 13.8 seconds. It was approved for events including the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Ulster TT.
