The Chevette, as its name implies, was intended to be a small Chevrolet. The UK version was intended to fit into the Vauxhall range below the Viva, and was initially presented only in its hatchback version, with a Pontiac inspired shovel nose and inset headlights. Sales began on 1 May 1975 at a price of 1,593 pounds. Its model years run from 1975 to 1984. It was sold in Germany through Opel dealers from 1980 as a plain Chevette.
