The second generation Renault Trafic, project code X83, came out of a joint venture between Opel, Nissan and Renault, and was also sold as the Opel and Vauxhall Vivaro and the Nissan Primastar. It was designed by Renault at its Technocentre outside Paris and engineered by the light commercial vehicle team at Villiers-Saint-Frederic. It was built by GM Manufacturing at Luton, which made it the first Renault vehicle built in the United Kingdom in more than thirty years, with high roof versions made at the Nissan plant in Barcelona. It came as a panel van with three seats up to a nine-seat passenger van. A mild facelift in October 2006 brought clear indicators, and production ended in June 2015.
