Renault Trafic I

Automobiles

The first generation of the Renault Trafic was a light commercial van sold from 1980 to 2001 and revised several times in that period. The first vans had a 1,397 cc petrol engine behind a flat grille, while the 2.1 litre diesel and larger 1,647 cc petrol engines needed an extended plastic grille and deeper bumper. A 1,721 cc overhead cam engine replaced the 1,647 cc unit in the mid 1980s, and a part-time four-wheel drive diesel version arrived at the end of 1984. Major restyles followed in 1989 and 1995. The chassis and cab became the base of the Winnebago LeSharo motorhome in the United States, and the van was also sold as the Opel Arena, Tata Winger and Inokom Permas, and was popular for campervan conversion.
