The Combo C was the second generation of the Opel Combo, launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2001 with sales beginning in January 2002. Opel again based it on the Corsa, using the subcompact Gamma platform, with the front clip shared back only to the A-pillar for a flush look. It gained sliding rear side doors, with a single or double passenger side door, while commercial vans kept symmetrical twin rear doors. An Opel Combo Tour and a more rugged Combo Tour Tramp, called Arizona in some markets, targeted leisure buyers. Production moved from Azambuja in Portugal, which closed in December 2006, to Zaragoza in Spain in 2007, and ended at the end of 2011 before the December 2011 Combo D based on the Fiat Doblo.
