The fifth generation GR Supra was released in January 2019 at the Detroit show after 17 years off the market. It went on sale in May 2019 in seven colors, sharing the platform and many parts with the BMW Z4 and built by Magna Steyr in Graz, and it won Auto Bild's Golden Steering Wheel and Esquire's Car of the Year. This was the first model year of the Toyota Supra (fifth generation, A90), 2019 to 2026, which took over from the Toyota Supra (fourth generation, A80); the 2020 model year follows it.
