The Starlet 80 series was introduced to the Japanese market in December 1989, with new twin cam engines. It made its European debut at the 1990 Geneva show, and the Japanese only full time four wheel drive EP85 models were launched in August 1990. Minor changes came in January 1992, when all Japanese models gained fuel injection, and May 1994 with a new front end, and Japanese production ended in December 1995, continuing in Indonesia until March 1998.
