The Starlet 80 series was introduced to the Japanese market in December 1989, with the Japanese models receiving new twin cam engines, the 4E-F, 4E-FE and turbocharged 4E-FTE, while export models retained the 1E and 2E engines. This was the first model year of the Toyota Starlet (fourth generation, P80), 1989 to 1995, which took over from the Toyota Starlet (third generation, P70); the 1990 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Starlet run from 1973 to 1999.
