In 2012 Toyota worked with Tesla Motors on a second generation RAV4 EV, an electric SUV scheduled for the third quarter, with a 41.8 kWh battery. The larger XA40 arrived the same year, but the short wheelbase XA30 stayed in production for Japan and was sold there in its place until 2016. It was the last model year covered for the Toyota RAV4 (third generation, XA30), 2006 to 2012, and the Toyota RAV4 (fourth generation, XA40) came next, following the 2011 model year. Model year pages for the Toyota RAV4 run from 1994 to 2026.
