In March 1971 an even sportier version of the Publica called the SR, for Sports Rally, was added, and the 1200 engine also found its way into a well equipped variant called the Hi-Deluxe. Power increased from 73 to 77 PS. It was model year 3 of 7 in the Toyota Publica (third series, P30 and P50), 1969 to 1978, coming after the 1970 model year and before the 1972 model year.
