In 2014 Toyota started selling the Prius in South Korea as a taxi, because neither Hyundai nor Kia offered a hybrid taxi at the time. On 14 February it announced a global recall of third generation cars over faulty software in its hybrid control unit, ahead of the next generation. It was the last model year covered for the Toyota Prius (third generation, XW30), 2009 to 2014, and the Toyota Prius (fourth generation, XW50) came next, following the 2013 model year. Model year pages for the Toyota Prius run from 1997 to 2025.
