The Land Cruiser 60 series was produced from 1980 through 1990 for most markets, and the plant in Venezuela continued production until 1992. It was introduced in 1980 and designed to better compete in the emerging sport utility vehicle market, with creature comforts such as air conditioning, a rear heater and an upgraded interior. The six cylinder 4.0 liter 2H and four cylinder 3.4 liter 3B diesel engines were added to the lineage, and in Europe the model was sold as the Land Cruiser Wagon Van.
