The T170 Corona and Carina were introduced in December 1987, increasing in size to the maximum 1,700 mm permitted for a lower tax bracket. Manufacture by Toyota Australia of the rear wheel drive Corona continued until 1987, and the rear wheel drive models continued until the introduction of the T170 series. This was the first model year of the Toyota Corona (eighth generation, T170), 1987 to 1991, which took over from the Toyota Corona (seventh generation, T140, T150 and T160); the 1988 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Corona run from 1957 to 2001.
