Toyota Corolla (fifth generation, E80)

Automobiles

The E80 of May 1983 was the first Corolla to move most of the range to front wheel drive, with a sloping hood and a sharp edged, no frills style; only the AE85 and AE86 stayed rear wheel drive and were the last Corollas to do so. New body styles included a compact hatchback and a five door liftback built mainly for export markets, a 1.8 liter diesel joined the engines, and a rebadged Sprinter was sold in the United States as the Chevrolet Nova from 1985, built in a joint venture with General Motors.
