The XV70 was unveiled at the Detroit show in January 2017 and is built on the GA-K platform, the first Camry on Toyota's newer modular architecture. It reached Japan in July 2017 and went on sale in North America later that month, with Southeast Asia following in late 2018 and Western Europe from April 2019, where it replaced the Avensis. All wheel drive returned to North America for 2020 for the first time since 1991, a TRD trim was introduced that year, and the car was facelifted for the 2021 model year. Production ended in October 2024.
