This generation Leone made its way to the United States in 1985. The performance oriented RX sedan was introduced in 1985, reusing a trim package designation first introduced in December 1972, with the EA82T turbo engine and a five speed manual transmission. All other second generation models were discontinued by 1985. The Leone was released as a replacement for the Subaru 1000 and was the predecessor of the Subaru Impreza.
