Production of the Legacy ended in Japan in June 2020, with the sixth generation Legacy being the last model produced and marketed in Japan. The 2020 model year Legacy moved to the Subaru Global Platform, which is torsionally stiffer than the previous generation. A turbocharged 2.4 liter FA24 flat four from the Ascent replaced the outgoing 3.6 liter flat six. The Legacy is a mid-size car built by the Japanese automaker Subaru from 1989 to 2025.
