Subaru initially announced the Ascent would be sold in the Philippines as the Evoltis starting from 2020. For the 2020 model year a new rear seat reminder was made standard across the Ascent lineup, and the Premium trim and above got a one touch lighting system to turn all the interior lights on or off. It was to be the flagship Subaru vehicle in North America. In terms of exterior design it was akin to a three row Outback, as the Ascent is to the Forester.
