The MG N-type Magnette was a sports car built from October 1934 to 1936, developed from the K-type and L-type but on a new chassis that was wider at the rear than the front, with the body carried on outriggers. The NA used a 1,271 cc six-cylinder overhead-camshaft engine, a development of the KD unit, with twin SU carburettors and 56 bhp, about 25 percent more than before. Springs were longer semi-elliptics and the body was rubber-mounted, with rear-hinged cut-away doors. Besides open cars an Airline Coupe was offered but few sold, and some chassis went to outside coachbuilders such as Allingham, whose bodies were made by Carbodies.
