The MG KN Magnette was a coupe built by MG in 1933 and 1934 to use up surplus bodies made for the unsold K-type saloons. The bodies were fitted to the K1 chassis but with the more powerful 1,271 cc engine of the N-type, whose 56 bhp took the car to 78 mph. The body had no pillar between the front and rear doors, the front doors hinged at the windscreen end and closed against the rear doors, and the rear doors had no outside handles to give the impression of a two-door coupe. The missing pillar weakened the structure and often caused problems. A sunshine roof was fitted, the price was 399 pounds, and University Motors, the London MG dealer, sold a four-seat Speed Model variant.
