The Acura ARX-02a was a Le Mans Prototype built by Acura for the LMP1 category of the American Le Mans Series, its second prototype after the LMP2 ARX-01. Unlike the ARX-01 it was a bespoke design made for Acura by Wirth Research, with the original 3.4 litre V8 enlarged to 4 litres for durability. Wirth fitted rear-size tyres to the front of the car, increasing the contact patch by 7 percent. De Ferran Motorsport and Highcroft Racing ran it from its debut at the 2009 12 Hours of Sebring, where Scott Dixon put it on pole ahead of the Audi and Peugeot diesels. When de Ferran closed shop in 2010 Highcroft returned to the ARX-01, ending the car's career.
