Sterling 825 and 827

Automobiles

The Sterling 825 and 827 were the two models of the only car the Sterling brand sold, the Rover 800 series adapted for the United States and Canada. The 825 saloon arrived for 1987 and was the only body offered in 1987 and 1988, in S and SL trims; for 1989 a hatchback joined it and the car became the 827 with a larger Honda V6 engine, sold as S, SL, SL Limited and SLi and later as S, Si, SL and SLi, and 350 Oxford Edition cars based on the 827 SL were added for 1990. It shared its platform, structure and engines with the Japanese Acura Legend, with its own spring and damper settings and a British interior of real wood and leather. Early build quality ranked at the bottom of J.D. Power surveys, and the car left the market in 1991 with the brand.
