The Simca 1000 Rallye was a sporting version of the rear-engined Simca 1000, launched in February 1970 on the basis of the 1969 Simca 1000 Spécial. The first car took the 1,118 cm3 Poissy engine of the Simca 1100 with 53 hp for a top speed of 150 km/h, and came in Sardinian red with a matt black bonnet. It grew into the Rallye 1 of 1972 with 1,294 cm3 and 60 hp, the twin-carburettor Rallye 2 with 82 hp and four disc brakes from September 1972, and the Rallye 3 of December 1977 with 103 hp and 183 km/h, built as 1,000 numbered cars. The Rallye was the 1000 with the most competition entries, close to 400, and its name passed to later Talbot and Peugeot models.
