Packard Patrician

Automobiles

The Packard Patrician was the top Packard sedan of the 1951 to 1956 model years, built at Packard's Detroit plant on East Grand Boulevard and described as the last of the senior Packards. It began as the Patrician 400, replacing the Custom Super Eight, with stainless trim, a fishtail extension on the rear fender, a 127 inch wheelbase and a nine-main-bearing 327 cubic inch straight eight, and the 400 was dropped from the name in 1953. Henney built Corporate Limousines and Executive Sedans on stretched Patrician chassis. For 1955, under designer Dick Teague, the senior line gained cathedral taillights, hooded headlights and Packard's only V8. The last true Packard, a black Patrician, left the line on 25 June 1956.
