The MG WA was a sporting saloon built in 1938 and 1939 and the largest and heaviest car MG had made. Similar to the SA but with a wider rear track for a bigger body, it used the Morris six-cylinder engine enlarged to 2,561 cc with a compression ratio of 7.25 to 1 and a balanced crankshaft. The four-speed gearbox had synchromesh on the top three ratios, with a divided propshaft and 14-inch Lockheed hydraulic brakes. Alternatives included a Tickford drophead coupe and a four-door tourer. Priced at 442 pounds as a saloon, it went out of production with the war in 1939 and was not revived.
