The MG Magnette was a saloon car produced by MG between 1953 and 1968 in two build series: the ZA and ZB of 1953 to 1958, and the Mark III and Mark IV of 1959 to 1968, both using a modified Wolseley body and an Austin engine. The ZA introduced the BMC B-series four-cylinder engine of 1,489 cc, with twin SU carburettors and 60 bhp, driving the rear wheels through a new four-speed gearbox. The Wolseley 4/44 was its sibling, and the Mark III of 1959 was nearly identical to the Riley 4/68, both on the new Pinin Farina-designed mid-size BMC saloon line.
