Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class C219

Automobiles

The C219 is the first generation of the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class, a four-seat, four-door coupe with a fastback body that was produced between 2003 and 2010. It was the first car of its kind in the world, and Volkswagen followed with the CC in 2008 and Porsche and Audi with the Panamera and A7 in 2009. It grew from the Vision CLS concept shown at the 2003 Frankfurt show and shares its engines, transmissions and 2,854 millimetre wheelbase with the W211 E-Class, though it has less legroom, headroom and boot space. It was priced above the E-Class and below the S-Class. Only 170,000 were built in six years before the C218 replaced it in 2011.
