The Lexus HS is a dedicated hybrid compact executive sedan that Lexus introduced in 2009. It was shown at the North American International Auto Show in January 2009, went on sale in Japan in July 2009 and reached the United States in August 2009 as a 2010 model. As the HS 250h it was the first dedicated hybrid in the Lexus range and the first with an inline-four petrol engine, and it was built on the Toyota New MC platform with bioplastic materials in the interior. At 4,700 millimetres it is slightly longer than the IS and shorter than the ES, with front-wheel drive. Sales in the United States lagged, and production of the HS 250h ceased in January 2012.
