The Fairmont was a compact car sold by Ford in North America for the 1978 to 1983 model years, the successor of the Maverick and the third generation of Ford compact sedans. It was the first car on the rear wheel drive Fox platform, which went on to underpin a dozen other model lines. It was offered as a two door sedan, a coupe, a four door sedan and a station wagon, and the front wheel drive Tempo replaced it for 1984. Mercury sold it as the Zephyr. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in one generation: the single generation (1978 to 1983).
