The DeSoto Suburban is an automobile that DeSoto produced from 1946 through the 1954 model year. It continued DeSoto's long-wheelbase models first introduced in 1946 and was sold under the DeSoto Deluxe, Custom and Powermaster model designations. The four-door sedan rode a 139.5 inch wheelbase, which let the factory ship a car that carried eight passengers. It was powered by Chrysler's inline six-cylinder engine, which moved the nearly two ton car at cruising speed without quick starts. With no station wagon in its line-up, the Suburban served consumers who needed a large-capacity automobile and was almost ready built for the taxi cab industry.
