The DeSoto Powermaster was an automobile that DeSoto built for the 1953 and 1954 model years. It appeared during DeSoto's 25th anniversary and took the place of the entry-level Deluxe. It was a full-size car offered in pillared two- and four-door sedan and station wagon models, powered by Chrysler's 251 cubic inch DeSoto six-cylinder engine. In both years it was available as an eight-passenger sedan with jump seats, called the DeSoto Suburban, on a longer 139.5 inch wheelbase. Chrysler of Canada also built a two-door hardtop that the United States did not get, and the Powermaster ended for 1955 when DeSoto moved all its cars to Firedome V8 engines.
