For the 2021 model year the Avalon was available in the United States with a four cylinder all wheel drive variant, only with the 2.5 liter engine. It also gained standard Android Auto and an XSE Nightshade trim, and the hybrid's battery changed to a more compact lithium ion pack. Toyota announced in August 2021 that US production would end. It was model year 3 of 8 in the Toyota Avalon (fifth generation, XX50), 2019 to 2026, coming after the 2020 model year and before the 2022 model year. Model year pages for the Toyota Avalon run from 1995 to 2026.
