In October 2019 Toyota announced the second generation Mirai for the 2021 model year, based on the rear wheel drive TNGA platform. The first generation continued on sale in its final full year, with the same high pressure hydrogen tanks and fuel cell stack that had been in use since the Mirai's sales began in 2014. It was model year 5 of 6 in the Toyota Mirai (first generation, JPD10), 2015 to 2020, coming after the 2018 model year and before the 2020 model year. Model year pages for the Toyota Mirai run from 2015 to 2024.
