The redesigned third generation Avalon was unveiled at the Detroit show in January 2005 and went on sale in February 2005. Car and Driver, which had called earlier Avalons Japanese Buicks, rated it at the top of a group of large premium sedans that year. This was the first model year of the Toyota Avalon (third generation, XX30), 2005 to 2012, which took over from the Toyota Avalon (second generation, XX20); the 2006 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Avalon run from 1995 to 2026.
