The Clegg 12 was first displayed at the November 1911 Olympia show as a four cylinder supplement to the two cylinder sleeve valve cars. It was designed by Owen Clegg, who had joined Rover from Wolseley, with a four cylinder side valve engine of 2297 cubic centimeters and a worm drive rear axle, and around 5,000 were made before the First World War. In 1924 it was renamed the Rover 14. Its model years run from 1912 to 1924.
