1963 Rover P5

Automobiles

In 1963 the Queen took delivery of the first of two 3 Litre Mark 2 cars, the first carrying forward the personal number plate JGY 280, with the second built rather later, finished in Pine Green and registered 155 HYU. The more upmarket and conservative P5 was sold alongside the new P6 until 1973, and the P6 customers wanting three in the rear were told to choose the larger and older P5. The P5 was a car in its fifth year, built by Rover.
