In December 1994 a revised Metro model was introduced for the 1995 model year. The Rover Metro of 1994 was the last year of the Metro name in Britain, which the Rover Group scrapped after 14 years. Its styling was influenced by Ital Design, with some similarity to the Giorgetto Giugiaro designed Fiat Punto launched in 1994, and the blacked out pillars and floating roof of the 1989 R8 Rover 200. The Rover Metro was then replaced by the Rover 100.
